Who I Help

Somara warmly welcomespeople across identitiesand life experiences.

Somara offers affirming, culturally responsive care, with particular understanding of the communities and concerns below. No one is reduced to a category, and no client is assumed to share a single experience.

Communities Somara serves

LGBTQIA+ communities

Support may include identity development, minority stress, coming out, family and faith, gender affirmation, relationships, shame, and sexual confidence. Somara explicitly welcomes trans, nonbinary, bisexual, queer, sex-positive, kink-allied, and consensually non-monogamous clients.

Asian, Filipino & Asian American clients

Cultural identity, family obligation, saving face, achievement pressure, emotional restraint, faith, migration, intergenerational conflict, colorism, racism, belonging, and the tension between honoring community and developing an autonomous self. “Asian” is not treated as one culture, and no client is assumed to share these experiences.

Hawaiʻi & island communities

Homesickness, diaspora, local identity, mixed culture, family and community closeness, leaving the islands, code-switching, and the feeling that mainland providers may miss important context. Care for people from Hawaiʻi and island communities—without flattening everyone into Native Hawaiian identity.

Couples & relationships

For couples caught in recurring cycles: one pursues while the other withdraws; one fixes while the other feels unheard; both feel unimportant or like failures. The emphasis is emotional attunement, perspective, communication, repair, boundaries, intimacy, and practicing new interaction—not assigning a villain.

Creatives & performers

For dancers, musicians, visual artists, actors, and creators facing perfectionism, rejection, blocks, visibility, comparison, burnout, identity fusion with the work, and performance anxiety. Zano's movement, performance, and university teaching background informs this work.

Athletes & sports performance

For focus, confidence, composure, body awareness, injury-related identity disruption, setbacks, motivation, and performance pressure.

This is not a sport-psychologist credential.

Sexual confidence & relationship concerns

Support focuses on anxiety, shame, communication, expectations, embodied presence, and relational context.

Somara does not provide medical evaluation; medical causes may require referral.
